Cambridge Book and Toy Exchange
On Saturday, Jan. 26, PARENTS FORUM held a Book & Toy Exchange in the Lecture Hall at the main branch of the Cambridge Public Library on Broadway. Co-sponsors included Families First, which donated prizes of
gift certificates, and the Mt. Vernon Restaurant of Somerville, which provided gratis a sumptuous array of baked goods, cut fruit, juice and coffee. PARENTS FORUM periodically holds book and toy exchanges, its signature event.
Attendees bring books on parenting and family life, books for children, including cloth books (for babies) and books in any language for grammar school age children, as well as toys, puzzles, games in good condition, and educational videos, and go home with different titles of the same. During this most recent event, children and parents pursued an art project, ably helped by crack volunteers from Everett High School, Northeastern University and Tufts University. Unclaimed donations were given to the Cambridge Family YWCA Family Shelter.
