Family Support America - Feedback on PARENTS FORUM Workshop
April 22, 2002 Training Seminar
1. What did you like most about the seminar?
- Reinforcing these communication techniques. The time went pretty good. The break was needed.
- Talking about myself, getting to know other participants.
- The interaction and practice.
- Interaction, as the class was participatory.
- The diagrams and interaction.
- The pairs and small groups activities helped demonstrate how PARENTS FORUM works.
- The openness and "realness" of the forum.
- That it was a working workshop where you learned as you were being trained, presenting a manual to work with. One of the best workshops I have ever attended !!
- This is what is missing in a lot of other parent education programs!
2. Was it what you expected? How?
- Yes, and more. I appreciated the hand-out. The outline was an added benefit and the facilitator followed it. The co-presenters were good, also. The environment was warm and inviting. Also, everyone had an opportunity to participate.
- Pretty much -- I was glad to WATCH the role playing.
- It wasn't clear from the description in the [conference] book. I thought we would be hearing from parents who participated in this program and reviewing the eight questions which helped them move forward.
- No, I did not know what to expect. It was interesting.
- No, I was really not sure what to expect.
- Yes! It gave me information I can use immediately both at home and everywhere else. I feel happy about attending PARENTS FORUM because I learned so much.
3. How was it not what you expected?
- We actually "did" the program!
- I thought it would be a workshop on getting parents together to advocate in schools and community.
- I came late and had to fit in, but I found myself.
- It was much more interactive and personal than I expected.
4. Was there anything you did not like?
- No, loved it.
- No, although it was not what I thought, it will be very helpful for my job.
- Not enough time.
- I was nervous about paired and self-exposure in small groups. After I did it,
I felt fine. I challenged myself.
- Only that I was not aware of PARENTS FORUM sooner!
5. Please tell us if / how you would like to be involved in PARENTS FORUM.
- I believe we will try and use some of this information in our parent programs. Thank you.
- Learning much more about the program and bringing awareness to my local community.
