BTECambridge Book and Toy Exchange - October 21, 2000 to benefit Place of Promise

Votes from participants at the PARENTS FORUM Book & Toy Exchange held Saturday, October 21st at the Cambridge Public Library were all in favor:

  • "Great job! Do it again!," said Susana, from Argentina and Cambridge, mother of Markie, age 2 1/2.

  • Igor, a World Boston Community Connections visitor from Vyborg, near St. Petersburg, and the father of Slavik, six years old, commented, "We have nothing like this in Russia. So many people, everyone is so interested, and everybody needs it, this bring and take."

  • "Fantastic! I saw the flyer in the library . . . I couldn't resist. I have a big bag of books and I'm still looking," added Ceane, mother of Zoe, 2 1/2 years old, from Charlestown.
At the end of the two-hour free event more than a dozen bags of books and toys remained for the beneficiary of the event, A Place of Promise in Boston.

Door prizes, gift certificates from VIP Coaching, Total Image Consultants, and both Christopher's and Cambridge Common Restaurants in Cambridge, were drawn by PARENTS FORUM founder Eve Sullivan, who also announced the group's Nov. 7th Election Day fundraiser. "We need community support to publish our program handbook," she said, "Come by for tea before or after you vote and drop a few dollars in the basket!" Tickets will be available at $6.00 to the Nov.19th private shopping nights at the North Shore Mall and South Shore Plaza. Call 617-864-3802 for information.
