Board Members

Eve Sullivan, Founder and President

Eve is a mother of three grown sons, lives in Cambridge, Mass., and works part-time as an editorial assistant at MIT. She trained as a language teacher and, since 1991, has dedicated her volunteer efforts to Parents Forum. She is active on behalf of the program in the Cambridge Chamber of Commerce, the Cambridge Family Literacy Collaborative, the Vienna International Committee of NGOs on the Family, CIVICUS and the UN Committee on Mental Health. She serves on the council of the National Parenting Education Network and the board of the International Federation for Parent Education based in Paris.

William Sharp (M.A.), Board Member

William is a therapist in private practice in Brookline, Mass., and Director of the School Based Counseling Program of the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy and the Boston Graduate School of Psychoanalysis. He is a Parent Educator for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and consultant to the Commonwealth's Department of Social Services and Department of Mental Health.

Hayley Arnett, Board Treasurer.

Hayley has a master's degree in Child Development from Tufts University. Her interest in joining the board is to bring her expertise in the areas of Children with Special Needs and Public Health to help PARENTS FORUM reach more parents and institutions by helping create a social marketing campaign.

Rachael Thames (M.S.Ed.), Board Secretary

Rachael holds a master's degree in Early Childhood Education from Wheelock College. In addition to her work with Parents Forum she chairs the Advocacy and Community Service committee on the Wheelock College Alumni Board. Coming from a biracial family and working extensively with children, Rachael brings both personal and professional experience to the board.

Maggie Giles (M.T.S., M.A.), Board Member

Maggie is a resident of Cambridge, joined the Board of Parents Forum in 2008 and is committed to doing all she can to improve the lives of youth and families. She is the Director of Youth Services at the Institute for Health and Recovery in Cambridge, where adolescent services include: Central Intake Care Coordination to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s adolescent residential substance use treatment facilities; the DPH-funded Suffolk County Adolescent Project; the SAMHSA-funded Strengthening Adolescents Family Empowerment Project, of which she is Project Director; the SAMHSA-funded Grove Hall Getting Healthier Project; the DYS-funded Regional Access to Youth Services Project; and most recently the Question 2 Drug Awareness Program Initiative. Maggie is a certified GAIN National Clinical Trainer and a certified A-CRA Supervisor has master’s degrees in Theological Studies from Weston School of Theology and in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University.

Jena Murphy

Jena has been in the PR industry for 10 years and brings her experience in promoting news and activities to Parents Forum. As an advisor, Jena offers consel on how publicizing events and key marketing strategies to increase enrollment.

As a member of an adoptive, multi-national, blended family, she enjoys seeing how family dynamics influence our every day lives.

Luke Sullivan 

Luke is a senior system administrator for the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Science. His work focuses on system virtualization and identity management. Luke provides guidance to Parents Forum on technology needs.

Co-Founders

Eve Sullivan is the author of the program handbook Where the Heart Listens. It is her vision of a community of parents and others who care about children and families that created PARENTS FORUM.

Chris Bates, mother of a son and a daughter, both grown, and the happy grandmother of two wonderful little boys, lives in Nahant. Her practical skills and efforts helped make the PARENTS FORUM dream a reality.
